Argyle Potholder
This is a quick color knit that is fun to see come together, and the nifty inverse-reverse color knitting doesn’t waste either of your colors.

materials:
- Worsted weight yarn in at least 2 colors
- US 8 (5.0 mm) straight needles
- Crochet needle (if crocheting border)
pattern:
CO 37 stitches in MC.
Set-Up Row (Row 1): * k1 in MC, leave yarn on needle, move both yarns forward; p1 in CC into back of yarn, move both yarns backward. Repeat from * 18 times. k1 in CC, leave yarn on needle, move both yarns forward; p1 in MC into back of yarn, move both yarns backward. * k1 in MC, leave yarn on needle, move both yarns forward; p1 in CC into back of yarn, move both yarns backward. Repeat from * to end of row. (74 stitches)
All Even Rows 2-48—Follow pattern (left to right), knitting both sides simultaneously. For every box on the pattern, you will make 2 stitches of opposite colors, as follows:
- If box is CC, k1 in MC, move both yarns forward, p1 in CC, move both yarns backward.
- If box is MC, k1 in CC, move both yarns forward, p1 in MC, move both yarns backward.
All Odd Rows 3-49—Follow pattern (right to left), knitting both sides simultaneously, as follows:
- If box is MC, k1 in MC, move both yarns forward, p1 in CC, move both yarns backward.
- If box is CC, k1 in CC, move both yarns forward, p1 in MC, move both yarns backward.
Finishing: Using the MC, * k2tog, k2tog, BO; repeat from * to end. If desired, crochet border in MC. Make 2-3 inch i-cord in MC and attach to corner in a loop. Weave in ends.
